SESSION PREP
How to Be Prepared for Your Appointment

WHAT TO BRING
When you come for your appt there are some things you may want to consider bringing with you:
Bring snacks and drinks, it is very important to keep your blood sugar up and avoid complications. Should you forget to bring something we can provide you with Gatorade, water and/or a granola bar.
Dress in layers, and if you are particularly prone to chill feel free to bring something clean to throw over yourself. The shop stays around 20°, for me this is warm for others it may feel chilly, especially when getting tattooed!
The shop gets loud at times, and I typically wear headphones to allow myself to focus on your tattoo without distractions.
You should also bring headphones and an entertainment of your choosing to provide some distraction and ultimately help you sit longer.
I have a stand and charging port that you can put a tablet, laptop or phone on, to watch hands free, as well as nearby outlets and wifi.
You will be asked to wear a provided mask and come alone to your appt. Family and friends may wait outside for you, however, since the pandemic we continue to try and keep our head count low for everyone’s safety
WAIVER & REQUIREMENTS
As outlined in the Deposit Policy, when you arrive you will be asked to complete a waiver, consenting to the process and confirming you have adhered to the following rules and responsibilities:
You are required to eat at least 2 hours prior to your session.
You must not be on any antibiotics, or medications that may hinder the outcome of your tattoo. This is a case by case scenario, if something comes up, let us know right away to avoid losing your deposit.
Cancellations within 2 weeks of your scheduled appt without extenuating circumstances (ex: inclement weather) will result in loss of deposit.
You must not be pregnant, or breastfeeding. If you are trying to get pregnant, consider waiting a few years to get this tattoo done.

You cannot be in recouvery from major surgery or injury within the last 6 weeks. You need to inform the studio if you are healing from physical injury or major surgery 2 weeks prior to you scheduled appt to avoid losing your deposit.

There cannot be scratches, bruises or abrasions to the area you will have tattooed.
If you might cut yourself shaving, let me do it for you.

If you have a skin condition it is important to inform me prior to booking.
You cannot consume alcohol 24 hours prior to your tattoo session.
You cannot consume caffeine 12 hours prior to your session.
Afterward is fine. If you know you get migraines when you don’t have your morning coffee, please only have a small cup as the effects of caffeine are detrimental to the process of getting tattooed and may result in an immediate stop to the appointment, no matter how much we have or have not completed.
Please come to the appointment freshly showered. You will not be able to shower again until the next day. I ask that you gently exfoliate the area 48 hours prior to our session.
You cannot have sun damage to any degree when you come for your session and cannot expose the tattoo to the sun for 3 weeks post appt. If you have a sunny vacation planned or a spa day the next week, it is imperative you change your appt date to suit your needs
You must inform myself or the studio of any current medical conditions, we are nonjudgmental and all information will be kept confidential. I may ask you to speak with your doctor to confirm it is okay to get tattooed.
Tattoos are forever, don’t let short term risks affect a permanent piece!
Sometimes conditions may only require changes to aftercare instructions (for example, being on SSRIs or having diabetes), other times there may be a need to move your appt to a later date (ex: certain antibiotics or blood thinners).
If you are any kind of sick or have been in contact with someone who is sick, call to reschedule right away.
Please do not risk complications with the healing of your tattoo, or my health. We can always rebook and I leave spaces in my schedule for mishaps.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
Please consider having someone else drive you. Especially if you’re coming for a longer session. Getting tattooed can be physically and mentally exhausting. I want everyone to be as safe as they can.
Should you need to drive yourself afterward, it is highly recommended you bring an extra snack to consume prior to leaving.
Please don’t wear your favourite white shirt, as a rule if it’s nice, I’ll probably ruin it (and tattoo ink doesn’t wash out!)
PRIVACY WITHIN THE BUSY STUDIO
Lastly, should you feel too physically exposed in the studio, I can provide you with coverings, nipple stickers, or put up folding partitions/barriers to offer us a more private experience.
I will offer them when I feel it may be needed. Should you decide not to use barriers at first, but afterward change your mind, please do not hesitate to ask! It’s never going to bother me and only takes a moment to do.
I strive to provide a safe environment for all of my clients, at all times!
I will always ask your consent, should you feel like revoking this consent at any time I’m happy to assist you.
I will take photos of your piece at the end of our session for my professional use and I will also provide you with these photos of your piece if you’d like them.
These pictures are the only way I can build my portfolio and keep a record of my completed work. I will always do my best to take these photos tastefully.
Should you feel uncomfortable in any way or would like to request not to be tagged in the posts please don’t hesitate to ask, at any time, I will work with you to ensure you are comfortable.
Thank you for reading this through and understanding my need to clearly write out all of these requirements and requests. I hope you find it informative and it helps you feel more prepared for our appt.
Should anything come up please contact Lyle St Tattoo Co at 902-469-0861 as soon as possible!
I’m looking forward to working together!
