FAQ

Interested in booking with me?
Here’s some information on the process and what to expect

Please read this carefully before applying to book with me.

WHEN WILL MY BOOKS OPEN?

I will open my books 3 months prior to available spaces. I will announce openings and instructions for submitting your application via Instagram and Facebook posts.

HOW DOES A CONSULTATION WORK?

All consultations will be conducted over email, rather than in person. If your design is difficult to describe through text, I accept video clips as well.

Please be as descriptive as possible to avoid miscommunications in your response and ultimately time wasted designing a piece inaccurately.

Once I have accepted your project I will respond with a rough quote and any clarifying questions I may require before booking.

Please note; I am very busy, it may take me a while to get back to you. If I cannot take on your project at this time, I will have the shop contact you with an artist I recommend for the piece instead. Either way, every email will be responded to.

SHOP PANDEMIC PROTOCOLS

I and Lyle St Tattoo Co have adopted some protocols preceding the pandemic in order to protect ourselves as well as our clients.

This means I will wear a mask during our session. Should you request one, a mask can be provided for you as well. We ask that you come alone to appointments, and follow any provided instructions to ensure a safe environment for all.

If you have had or have a plan to get the Covid-19 vaccine within one month of your session, please let us know, as we need to book appropriately to avoid complications. Adverse effects have been shown if a tattoo is done too soon before/after getting vaccinated.

COST

At Lyle Street Tattoo Co we charge by the hour. The amount of detail, size of design, skin type, placement, and tolerance all contribute to the time it takes to complete your desired piece.

When you apply you will receive a length of time to book, this will be your quote. All quotes will be rough estimates and will not be the final cost of your tattoo.

The length of time quoted will include extra time for breaks, stencilling and bandaging.

You will only be charged for the time it takes to complete your tattoo, you will not be charged for set up, stencilling time, breaks etc..

If you have a budget it is important to let me know before booking, as we may be able edit the design to fit within it.

The style of tattooing I do is called Fine Line. This is a gentle yet meticulous process, and often takes more time to complete than more bold styles.

DO I DO COVER UPS?

The fine line style of work I do does not fair well as a coverup. Should this be your need, please discuss it with me fully, before booking.

WHAT IS THE DESIGN PROCESS?

Your design will be created prior to your session and presented to you upon arrival.

Please note, your design will be a line drawing for me to follow and not a full rendering.

I cannot send designs in advance as a policy to protect against copy write infringement. However, if small edits are needed, we can do them together before we begin your tattoo.

Designing can be a very tedious process, I often put many hours into creating the perfect piece for you to wear forever.

When you apply, it is important to be clear about what you want, to avoid redraws and the loss of your appt time and deposit.

Ultimately, giving me artistic freedom will result in the best outcome.

BOOKING PROCEDURE

When my books open I will announce via social media and begin to accept email submissions.

Once we have both agreed on a concept and budget, you will be asked to call the studio to book in for a specified amount of time.

Should you need to break this appointment up into smaller sessions; you will need to seek my approval prior to booking. The studio will not make decisions on the length of your appt.

When you call to book you will be asked to give a brief description of what you’re getting and where, so staff may note your file for me accordingly.

DEPOSIT INFO

Booking requires a $200, non refundable deposit, which can be sent via etransfer to the studio to hold your spot. This deposit will be deducted from the final cost of your tattoo.

Once you have put down a deposit there can be no changes to the agreed upon design. Should you decide to make extensive changes to the concept, I understand things happen, however I ask that you put down a new deposit to pay for the time spent booking and creating the first piece.

Should you decide to book in, you are agreeing to the terms described in the Deposit Policy page. Please read this thoroughly prior to applying.

WHAT IF I NEED TO RESCHEDULE?

If you need to move or change your appointment you will have up to 10 business days prior to your booked appointment to do so, in order to avoid losing your deposit.

The studio handles my schedule and can help you make changes to your booking time/date.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO WE ACCEPT?

Cash is the preferred method of payment.

The studio does not accept credit/debit at this time.

E-transfer is accepted for the deposit, and may be used, should you neglect to bring enough cash with you.

WHAT IS THE SHOP ENVIRONMENT LIKE?

Lyle Street is a busy, open concept studio with 7 resident artists and 3 guest artist stations.

You will be greeted in the lobby upon arrival by the lovely Colleen or the owner/manager Mike. No one will enter the tattoo station area unless they have an appointment to be tattooed, for the safety and privacy of our clients.

Lyle St Tattoo Co is an 18+ environment and children will not be allowed beyond the main entrance.

WHAT ABOUT AFTERCARE?

My job is not complete until your piece is healed! After the tattoo, you will be provided with verbal and written aftercare instructions, and appropriate bandaging will be applied.
You can view these instructions on the Aftercare page.

You MUST adhere to my instructions, non compliance can result in complications beyond my control and as a result the work done will not be guaranteed.
